1 December 2014 – Markon has once again been identified as a Virginia Best Place to Work by Virginia Business and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. This is the second year in a row that Markon has achieved this prestigious accomplishment.

14 October 2014 – Markon was recently awarded a contract to provide Space Planning, Logistics Support, and Design Services for The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and to assist in their upcoming move from their current location to a new location in Washington DC. IMLS provides research, policy development, and grants to libraries and museums across the country. IMLS supports the full range of libraries, including public, academic, research, special and tribal, and the full range of museums including art, history, science and technology, children’s museums, historical societies, tribal museums, planetariums, botanical gardens and zoos.

3 September 2014 – Markon Solutions will be attending the 2014 CMAA National Conference and Trade Show in San Francisco from October 19 – 21st, located at booth #207. The CMAA National Conference and Trade Show provides information about transportation and water services, sustainability and life cycle asset management and innovative solutions and knowledge on key issues impacting the CM industry. Attendees will be afforded the opportunity to connect with owners, CMs/PMs, contractors, solution providers, and educators.

2 September 2014 – Markon Solutions will be at the Society of American Military Engineers Small Business Conference December 9-11 at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, MO at booth #316. Representatives from the USACE, NAVFAC Air Force will be in attendance as well as the Small Business Administration, General Services Administration, Veterans Administration, Department of Commerce, Department of Energy and others Leaders from within these organizations will be be sharing knowledge about upcoming opportunities and competing for contracts with their agencies.

27 August 2014 – Markon Solutions has achieved two prestigious awards for the third year in a row. The Inc. 5000 List and the Washington Technology Fast 50 List. Winning these awards for three years in a row represents continued achievement and success over time proving that our long term approach is paying dividends. Essential to this achievement is the quality of individuals who work for Markon and their efforts. The dedication and service of Markon employees to their customers has expanded Markon’s good reputation and has directly affected the ability to sustain customer loyalty and gain new business along the way.

25 August 2014 – On Saturday, August 23rd Markon participated in Canstruction®. Canstruction® is a unique charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions and events showcasing colossal structures made entirely out of full cans of food. Markon’s submission was a ‘Little Red Wagon: Pulling Us Out of Hunger’. After the structures are built, the creations go on display to the public as a giant art exhibition. At the end of the event, all food is donated to local hunger relief organizations. Markon continues to find ways to reach out into the community and find ways to participate in philanthropy efforts like this.

15 June 2014 – Markon Solutions placed in ENRs Top 100 List for Construction Management-for-Fee and Program Management list. Engineering News-Record or ENR is a world renown resource for information regarding Construction Engineering and Construction and Project Management. For that reason it is considered a great honor to be placed among their list of the Top 100 Construction Management Firms. The rankings, based on annual revenue at home and abroad, are further divided into specific market categories.

12 June 2014 – Markon Solutions Places 12th out of 80 companies chosen as the Washington Post Top Workplaces for 2014 that employ from 50 to 150 workers. The award was based upon a 22 question survey submitted to employees, which covered a variety of topics but focused on each individuals overall impression of Markon as an employer.

05 May 2014 – Markon Solutions was awarded GSA Schedule contract 03 FAC, GS-21F-91BA, which will be effective on May 12, 2014. The clauses under which we will accept work include SIN 811 003 and 811 006.

The scope of SIN 811 003 includes facilities management and consulting. Management duties include, but are not limited to, property and facilities management, planning, scheduling, quality control software support services, and computer and/or facilities management systems. The service will include adequate staff of personnel and alternates as required, with the necessary management expertise to assure performance of the work in accordance with sound and efficient management practices.

Services associated with SIN 811 006 include but are not limited to: the development, planning, facilitation, coordination, documentation, program planning, audits, inspections, evaluations, studies, analyses (including cost), scenarios, reports, policy and regulation development assistance for initiatives in areas of facilities maintenance and management solutions. Includes Smart Building Consulting.

05 May 2014 – Six Markon employees attended the annual Construction Management Association of America’s (CMAA) Capital Projects Symposium in Baltimore, MD. CMAA is North America’s only organization dedicated exclusively to the interests of the professional Construction and Program management industry. The Capital Projects Symposium 2014 is a high level conference that explored markets, trends, and keys to success in delivering projects through Design-Build, CM-At-Risk, Public/Private Partnerships (P3), Integrated Project Delivery, JOC/IDIQ and other evolving alternative project delivery methods. Topics included financing, partnering, contracts, legal and regulatory issues, bonding, risk management, and other topics, including case studies and current market research.

01 May 2014 – For the third year in a row, Markon Solutions was recognized on the Virginia Chamber of Commerce FANTASTIC 50 list, landing at number twenty. The Virginia Chamber announced the names of fifty of the fastest growing Virginia companies at the nineteenth annual Virginia’s FANTASTIC 50 Awards Banquet on May 1st. Nearly 500 attendees at the ceremony saluted the winners for their entrepreneurial success and contribution to Virginia’s economy.

21 April 2014 – Markon Solutions was awarded a prime contract for Master Planning and Program Management Services for the District of Columbia Courts, Capital Projects and Facilities Division. Markon has provided project and construction management support to the DC Courts Capital Projects and Facilities Division since 2010, and is excited about leveraging our proven track record to ensure a successful Master Planning and Program Management engagement.

04 March 2014 – Markon attended the The National Facilities Management and Technology Show (NFMT) at the Baltimore Convention Center from March 4, 2014 through March 6, 2014. NFMT is a 3-day conference and trade show that includes facilities management training, product discovery and networking opportunities. This was the first time Markon had developed and set up an official booth at an event of this kind. Many important and promising contacts were made, making the event a great success.

15 February 2014 – Markon was ranked 24th in the 2014 Best Places to Work in Virginia in the small employer category (15-99 U.S. employees). The award is based on a survey sent to each employee via email. A certain number of employees must complete the survey in order for the results to be considered. Results from all participating companies are then compared to determine the winners.
