03 Jun Markon Leadership Development Program
Our newest employee initiative is the Markon Leadership Development Program. This program is meant to develop the knowledge and skills for those individuals currently in leadership positions and those preparing to take on a leadership role within the company. Based on our experience and research, we chose to use a hybrid of traditional training, professional speakers, and peer advisory. Our first group consists of 8 Leaders who are on different programs and working with different clients. Most have been with the company for over a year and all are in positions where they are either currently leading or emerging leaders. Participants meet once a month for 12 months with Markon facilitators and outside speakers who cover a variety of leadership topics. We kicked off our Leadership Development Program (LDP) in late April.

Our April meeting included an exploration of Meyers-Briggs indicators and TED talks on such topics as work-life balance, stress free productivity and leading positive change. The group also worked on personal visions and key performance indicators that we’ll be revisiting monthly as part of issue processing.
This past Friday, we hosted our first speaker, accountability guru Mike Scott , who presented on the topic of Total Accountability – or more simply put “doing what you said you would do, as you said you would do it, when you said you would do it – Period!”. After a stint in the Army and a number of years in industry, Mike started his own consulting company in 1984 and has presented to over 2,500 groups. He provided us with the concepts of 1) Permanently eliminating surprises of non-performance, 2) shrinking the box of tolerance for non-performance, and 3) creating a foolproof tracking process.
Mike’s topic directly relates to the Markon Core Value, Taking Initiative. After the presentation, the LDP group discussed specific ways to apply the concepts within Markon.
Thank you to Mike Scott and Associates, for the outstanding topic and knowledge!
